My Booking

Whats happening at Heatherdene and out around the area.

March 2018

It isn't often that we get snow here in the South but we did this week and everything came to a standstill for a couple of days, but we are back to normal temperatures now and the milk is back in the shops!  I have just spent the morning up dating the information in our bedroom folders.  It seemed strange putting in things like the New Forest Tour bus dates, i cant imagine riding in an open top bus at the moment but by the time it starts running in July it will be a very pleasant way to spend a day hopping on and off the bus at various sites.  I was also writing about the cruise liners leaving Southampton and where to go and watch them depart, it wont be long before they start this years schedule and one or two of you reading this may even by booked on one.  We had a visit this month from the Visit England inspector, they come and stay and then just before they are leaving they tell us who they are and give us our star rating, we are pleased to say that we are a 4 star Gold rated B&B and we also retained our breakfast award .Exbury gardens opens this weekend in time for Mother day, spring is in the air and we look forward to seeing the rhododendrons and azaleas coming in to flower, perhaps you haven't seen Exbury Gardens in its full beauty, if not this is a good year to come.  Beaulieu has just published its events diary, once again there is lots going on there and it is only a couple of miles down the road.  I have put lots of suggestions of places to go and see in our bedroom folders so allow plenty of time to read all tha'ts on offer in our area.

Nov 2017

This is the time of year to visit the New Forest with the lovely Autumn colours, recently we took a walk at Boldrewood and the scenery was beautiful our day was topped by seeing a herd of deer from the viewing platform and being able to photograph them.  You can see the photos on our facebook page.  This is also the time of year to spend time in Lymington, the market is every Saturday and Lymington really comes alive with the hustle and bustle of a small town.  Visit the local pubs for a nice lunch and a sit by the log fires, what nicer way to spend a few hours.  Towards the end of the month the Christmas fayres begin and there are no better places to find hand crafted items for Christmas gifts.
Dark nights and twinkling lights, whats not to like?  Check out the Beaulieu website for their Christmas celebrations they are usually brilliant.

September 2017

This always tends to be a busy month for us, at the start of the month we had Beaulieu Auto jumble.  This event brings people from near and far, for the last few years we have had our regulars from Ireland and Holland.  Then mid month is the Southampton Boat Show.  Many people come and stay here and use the ferry from Hythe to avoid parking problems in the city.  The show seems to get bigger and better as the years go by.

We will soon see a reduction in the amount of cruise ships leaving Southampton as they will start their winter itineraries towards the end of the month.  We have loved watching them sail majestically down the Solent, we can see them from our beach hut or from Hythe Marina.
Exbury Gardens and Hilliers at Romsey are both worth a visit as the trees begin turning beautlful shades of red and gold.
